Course Maps

Our provisional course maps were posted in December 2009. We are currently in discussions with the Budapest municipality office to get these tracks confirmed. As soon as this happens we will announce the latest and official course layouts here.

Elite swimming course

The start & swim area is located at the Lágymányosi Danube bay in the southern part of the city. The bay has minimal connection to the river, the water is still and its quality meets official requirements. The bay is 5 km away from the finish venue.

The start is a pontoon start. There are two laps to swim (one lap for juniors). The water will be exited via a wide staircase. Expected temperature is 20 degrees Celsius.

Elite bicycle course

After the first transition area athletes will be cycling straight to the downtown of Budapest along the embankment of the Danube. After crossing the river through the Chain Bridge, triathletes have to complete 7 laps (each lap 5 km, for juniors only 3 laps). The course is flat throughout, the difference of altitude is only about 5 meters. 

Elite running course 

After the second transition area (located at Roosevelt square) athletes have to complete 4 laps (juniors 2) in the city center. The course is flat throughout, the difference of altitude is only about 5 meters.
